BMW E24 M635csi (M6) pre-highline model first registered on 7th April 1986, chassis no 0760313.

To find a pre-highline M6 in as good condition as this particular car is incredibly rare, but the mileage -17287 shown- and complete history make this particular E24 M6 an exceptional, one-off motor car.
First registered by BMW dealer L&C (now owned by Coopers) in Tunbridge Wells in the south of England, and destined to be part of the famous ‘collection’ assembled by L&C’s owner and serial collector Tim Hignett, this M6 was purchased on 25th October 1986 by Mr Alan Marson (via his company, George Corderoy & Co), then owner of a superb 635csi. All the original documents pertaining to the trade-in of the 635csi and purchase of the M6 form the start of a remarkable, fully documented ownership story covering the car from delivery to the present day. Upon his retirement in August 1990, Mr Marson transferred the car to his own name, and continued to maintain an impeccable service record and history (including periodic valuations to keep the insurers up to date with the changing prices for M6s) until 20th October 2003 when ownership and responsibility for the car passed to Mr Marson’s son, Peter.
Continuing the tradition, Mr Marson jnr, has lovingly preserved all the documentation including the original showroom brochure picked up in 1986 by his father, and stored the car in a climate controlled environment, driving the car only a few times a year.
The history includes a fully stamped service book, all MOT certificates, tax discs, receipts and a wealth of documentation charting the life and times of this modern classic. In terms of provenance, this M6 is peerless. The car has been well known to Munich Legends for much of its life, (we carried out a routine valuation for the owner in August 2000 which is with the history) and we are incredibly proud to be able to offer this one-off E24 M635 for sale.
The bodywork of this M6 is completely original, and is completely free of rust. During the life of the car, it would appear that there has been occasional minor remedial paintwork, though this is almost untraceable; the overall paint finish is absolutely first class, and largely original. Munich Legends have commissioned a complete detail of the car with the acclaimed specialists, Cambridge Autogleam.
Mechanically the car has had a complete overhaul (although this particular M6 ran perfectly upon arrival) and is in superb order. The engine, gearbox, drive train, suspension and brakes are exactly as the engineers designed, commensurate with the 17,000 miles covered in the life of the car, and an excellent maintenance routine.
Easing into the interior of this perfectly appointed, elegant sports coupe, the driver is immediately taken back to an era when BMW where beginning to show the competition a clean pair of heels, and a clear portent of things to come. The phenomenal M88 3.5 litre, 24 valve, straight six power plant was derived directly from the original Motorsport unit designed for the mid engined M1 supercar, and produced 286 horsepower and 251ft of torque at 4500rpm, giving the M6 the reputation for being the ‘supercar in a saville row suit’. Its immediate iconic status was only enhanced by the limited availability for UK customers of around 130 per year, making the M6 a rare sight indeed on the 80s British roads – and even rarer today.
In all 524 right hand drive cars were produced between 1985 and 1989, but according to internet sources only a maximum of 98 are currently ‘on the road’ with a further 132 in ‘SORN’ status.
