Incredible manual CS
Considered by many to be the manual CSL that never was, the CS has become an increasingly desirable cult classic. Far more than just a special edition run-out model, the CS comes with a few key tweaks, making the already awesome E46 M3 into a proper masterpiece. Reduced unsprung weight, a shorter rack, upgraded brakes and a track-style alcantara steering wheel complete the competition pack (as it was called outside the UK) and the very low numbers produced – 275 in total of which around 50% were manual – mean this limited run machine is one of the toughest M3s to find in the right condition.
The S54 3.2 straight-six was considered a masterpiece of an engine from the off, and its comparative reliability (don’t be overly put off by forum negatives) coupled with the benefit of hindsight means that even the standard M3s – especially in manual – are seen as the must have BMW M from this era. The CS is for many very much ‘the one to have’.
This particular CS is well known to us, having been imported by us from the Channel Islands (where we believe it only had one keeper) in 2017 and sold to a long term ML customer, who was forced to sell the car due to a foreign posting in 2020, to the current owner who has lavished care – and money – on the car during the two years (and only 1700 miles) of his ownership. To illustrate the incredible condition of this CS, we point to the fact that most ‘well cared for’ E46 M3s would typically throw up around £1500-2000 worth of work to achieve ‘showroom/retail condition’ when inspected by our technical team. This CS has £150 worth of work needed to achieve the very highest standard.
If you are looking for the best CS on the market right now, for under £40k, look no further. To arrange a viewing (appointment only please) please contact our showroom team on 01825 740456 or email us on sales@munichlegends.com
